Zen Shiatsu is a form of acupressure massage; it works with the same flow of energy (qi) which acupuncture is based on. The main difference being that Shiatsu uses extensions to each of the same twelve primary meridians described in the classic Chinese medical texts. It’s practiced on a mat on the floor with the patient wearing loose comfortable clothes and clean socks. Diagnosis for treatment is based on abdominal palpation testing for patterns and organ system imbalances, whether they are emotional, physical, spiritual or environmental.
